About Africa EnergyTech and Innovation Forum

The Africa EnergyTech and Innovation Forum is a signature initiative designed to promote international partnerships and strategic engagement with Corporations, Organizations, Foreign, Tertiary and Technical Institutions, research and development institutions, industry associations and corporations for technical capacity building to enhance Africa’s energy sector competitiveness.

It is evident that in the next wave of development in the African energy business environment, innovation, skills and content development are key value drivers. As the global energy industry moves towards energy transition, even against the backdrop of the peculiar development status of the African Oil and Gas Industry as well as the degree of integration and convergence with the power supply, renewable energy industries, it becomes imperative for the region to deepen efforts to grow skills and promote innovation across Africa’s energy industry value chain.

The critical need to boost foreign direct investments; forge international partnerships to intervene in the critical challenges in the sector makes it imperative to adopt and leverage identified platforms such as the Offshore Technology Conference and Exhibition Week to promote the industry given the socio-economic dynamics; economic development situation and the imminent impact on Africa’s petroleum producing countries of the emerging trends in the global energy market.

As the Energy Capital of the World, Houston is the headquarters and the intellectual capital for virtually every segment of the energy industry including exploration, production, transmission, marketing, supply, and technology and is home to 4,600 energy-related firms, the region remains at the forefront of foreign investment in energy - particularly in Mexico. The critical mass created by such a high concentration of companies and thought leaders in one geographic area yields opportunities for all sectors of the energy industry, including a growing focus on energy tech and renewable forms of energy.
